Inaugural Weekend'': The First Ladies and Their Families

The inauguration this year was absolutely beautiful. From the speeches, to honoring of our president in his second term. We loved how you could see how proud Michelle was of her husband and the love in her eyes. And we absolutely loved Beyonce's classic performance of the National Anthem. But above all we must take the time to notice to fashions of the First Lady of the Music Industry, Queen Bey, and the First Lady of the White House, Mrs. Michelle Obama, and their families.

Lets start with the Queen and her hubby Jay-Z:

Here is Beyonce in a long black Pucci dress with a swirling black floral pattern, caped with a long black Christian Dior coat and Lorraine Schwartz emeralds. Jay-Z was definitely not too shabby himself wearing a dapper Tom Ford suit. The first couple of the music business definitely showed up and showed out, giving us A+ fashion that we absolutely love to see from them.

But they went the only couple to show up and show out...

Check out the First Family and their leading lady:

The First Lady made a positive fashion statement the entire weekend wearing a ruby red custom chiffon gown, made by Jason Wu (the same designer she helped to jumpstart his career 4 years early, during the Presidents first office term, see gown here) with a haltered neckline, and velvet details going down. Here jewelry consisted of a ring and simple sparkled Diamond bangles; finishing her look with a pair of classic Jimmy Choo's. But the radiant First lady didn't stop there, at the Inauguration this past Monday. Mrs. Obama looked lovely in her very chic Thom Browne, elegantly tailored navy silk coat and dress that she wore the morning of her husband being sworn in. Her accessories included earrings by Cathy Waterman, and shoes by J. Crew. Her girls were of course decked out in designer wearing J.Crew and Kate Spade (as usual).

Don't you just love the first families! What do you think? Comment below.

Queen Bey Strikes Again...Kinda?

So a lot of buzz is going around about Beyonce' aka Queen Bey's new cover spread in GQ's February 2013 issue. I mean here she is half naked and 60 pounds lighter, of course everyone has something to say!!

We all love Beyonce' and her curvaceous figure and her humble personality. We even love her family and the new fashionable "I haven't lost touch" HOT mom look. But overall, I have to say that I was quite disappointed with the fashion of Bey's cover look. I mean seriously, a cheap tee and a pair of panties, WHO STYLED THIS SHOOT!!! Granted, this is a men's magazine featuring a "sexiest women alive" issue, so many may argue that the absence of clothing was right on target. However, lets not forget that GQ is a fashion magazine, which means that the fashion (whether man or women) is definitely important especially for an issue like this. And it most certainly did not out shine Rihanna's December 2012 GQ Spread (the Men of the Year issue).

I mean I guess when I think of a "sexy woman" I thinking about the full package, and don't get me wrong, Beyonce's definitely got it--she's got the look, she's super talented and as I said before her body speaks for itself. I just don't think that this cover best exploited her sexiness. I feel she should have been under clothed in something more chic and edgy like a hot fashionable teasingly-opened trench, cute high-fashioned jacket or even take it as far as a tasteful lingerie set. SHE'S THE QUEEN, DO HER JUSTICE! But hey, most men out there appeal to the simple looks of a cute tee and underwear, I just expected more.

On a better note, we absolutely congratulate her on her weight lost, just four months after dropping Baby Blu. THAT'S AMAZING!!!

Here's a quote from People magazine, last year, expressing what it was like dropping those pounds:

"I counted calories, I worked out maybe three to four times a week. I did a lot walking in the beginning and now I'm running. But I had to work my way up. I couldn't just go right from being pregnant to running...... I lost most of my weight from breast-feeding and I encourage women to do it,” she told the magazine. “It's just so good for the baby and good for yourself.”

She also told her audience in Atlantic City;
“Y'all have no idea how hard I worked. I had to lose 60 pounds. They had me on that treadmill. I ate lettuce!”

We look forward to seeing more of her in 2013. Until then, take a look at all of the photo's from the issue and even read the interview, as GQ calls her "Miss Millennium", here. Tell me what you think (comment below)!

Cover Steal:Gwen Steffani, Vogue

Gwen Steffani steals the cover of Vogue this month and look GREAT doing it. I must say Vogue picked a nice concept to start off the year with. See what its like in her world as a wife, mother of two and adorned former No Doubt rock singer. The magazine tells about how she's kept her title as "The First Lady of Rock" as she's just turned 43, last October. Check it out here.

New Year, New You...New Closet?

Ugh, how tired are we of our closets where our wardrobe lies their hopelessly in between our clothes that we have no idea why they exist there and those clothes that we’ve had since the dark ages. I mean we all have those closes that we’ve had in our closets for years that have just sat there for years on end, some of which still have the tag on it. Then there are our clothes that are sooo old that they probably we’re reported out of style with words like jive turkey and no diggity, no doubt. Oh how we hate our once prized wardrobe. Just the looks of it, is a bad start to the day.
With the New Year kicking in, we all have type of New Years Resolution of how your going to become the “New You”. Therefore we’ve decided to make a few wardrobe changes helping you reach your goal this year. While we know change does start within, sometimes outward changes that we can visibly see can inspire us helping the changes that start within. Whether your looking for a more exciting love life, or just trying to get ahead in the work force or trying to lose weight or even just trying to be an all around healthier better you, this is the post for you. We want to help revamp your wardrobe AND here’s the secret…. you don’t need need to throw everything out and head to your nearest mall or shopping center to do it. We’ve put together a few tips and suggestions that we think would be great for the rebirth of your closet:
  1. Accessorize! Grab that shirt you hate because it drapes over your body like your on an ad for Jenny Craig. Put it with a chic yet comfortable belt paired with your favorite perfectly-fitted jeans. You can even put that to long flowing dress to work in your closet, just add a belt, cute necklace and some knee-highs for work or a business lunch, or boots for a date night or a chilly day. This is also, great for when you’ve lost a little weight, but not too much where you need new clothes! (Use the tuck&tighten method in order to add a more curvy look to your body and add length to your legs)
  2. Hem, Hem, Hem! Hemming can be an easy fix to a good pair of pants or jeans. For pants that are too short, turn them into a crop pant. Crop pants send a message of sophistication, confidence and fun which can go along way when dating, losing weight, or even just a quick fix to make you feel good about what your wearing. For pants that are too long please DO NOT CUFF, cuffs are mostly for guys. Only cuff if your pants are 1”-1 1/2” too long—anything shorter or longer should be hemmed. Hemming a pant that is too long has great advantages too, sending messages of sex-appeal. They easy become your favorite jean as it shows-off your curves in lady-like manner. These are great for a first impression, so be sure to wear them out with the girls to have a few drinks…you never know who you may meet.;)
  3. Bleach, Dye & Distort(BDD)! For my edgier fashionistia’s I’m sure this is already on your list of favorites in revamping your closet. But for those fashionista’s who are new too it and are a little if-y I’m hear to tell you DONT BE! There are many DIY’s that show you step-by-step of how to do it without destroying your garments. You can bleach dye and distort or just do one or two of the three, either way its a quick easy way to turn your clothes from drab into fab. While it may seem risky you wont regret it—think about it—the reason your even thinking about BDD is most likely because you don’t like the way it is anyway so go for it!
  4. Stud It Up! This has been one of the biggest trends of 2012 and has gracefully carried over into 2013. It all started with the shorts but it didn’t stop there. You can stud up any and everything, its as easy as sowing on a button and allows to be creative with your wardrobe adding edge. If your more of a subtle fashionista, quaintly pop a few studs onto the collar of a drabby button-up, but if your bold create a cute design on one your plan fitted tees. Its quick, fun and easy but most of all its very edgy-chic.
  5. Cut It Up! Get rid of all those rules your mother gave you about cutting up your clothes, and cut yourself to a new wardrobe. You know that huge plain white tee you stole from your boyfriend, and only wear to bed or on early morning errands? Cut it into a fashion favorite. You can cut cute patterns or fringe it, making it high-hitter with your favorite acid wash or blue jean. Its simple and also allows you to be creative. Also, try cuting patch holes into a drabby button-up, not only is it trending this season but its also a cute fix, turning your boring preppy shirts into sexy-chic top pieces.

Kristen Stewart Stunning on Red Carpet of 'Twilight Breaking Dawn: Part 2' Premiere

image

Kristen has definitely had her share of hopeless days as if someone had pushed her in clothing and shoved her down the Red Carpet. And after her not-so-secretive affair with Snow White and the Huntsman Director, Rupert Sanders this pass summer, many of us gave up on Kristen, and her tasteless behaviorism. However as the premiere of Twilight has been in effect this week, we have seen Kristen veer off from her days of horrid picks in basic baseball tee's, sketchy jeans and Chuck Taylor's to fashion high-hitters of Elie Saab, Christian Dior and Zuhair Murad. We absolutely LOVE the new Kristen, as she has seemingly gotten her life back on track and given us a new outlook on her fashion sense making a statement of New Look, New Life. While she hasn't steered away from her "true to self" tom-boy appeal, she can still get glammed up with the best of Hollywood in her chic designer apparel. Now that we've seen the best of Stewart we wish her all the success in the world in her rising career and love-life with Robert Pattinson. Even more, in the words of Ms. Rita Ora, we want to say RIP to the girl she used to be as we can only hope that her days are FAR over.
But first...have a look-see at how Kristen Stewart has progressed in her fashion sense over the years through, what New York Magazine calls, The Kristen Stewart Lookbook
